A rights holder (also referred to as "rights vendor") is someone who wants to sell a sponsorship right to a potential rights buyer (a sponsor). A sponsorship right is for example the right to appear on the shirts of a sports team as the shirt sponsor, or to book a banner in the stadium. Rights holders in sport sponsorship are therefore usually athletes, sport teams, clubs, or sport events.
