Summary
Description
Indigenous Nationals is an annual event that allows young Indigenous Australians to participate in a sporting competition, while working towards attaining higher education qualifications. Nationals allows Indigenous Australians to be immersed in culture and community, along with providing tangible health and fitness benefits. This is important as Indigenous people continue to experience poorer employment, education and health outcomes compared to non-Indigenous Australians.
In 2019, UQ’s Indigenous National Uni Games team won first place in the volleyball competition, and placed ninth in the overall standings, against 28 other university teams. Last year the competition did not take place due to COVID-19. This year, we are aiming to improve our overall ranking, but our attendance is contingent on raising sufficient funds.
Key figures for sponsors
Your generous contribution enables the Goorie Goannas (Team UQ) to compete at this event, and assists in improving the health of young Indigenous Australians. In exchange for your contribution, your name or company logo will be printed on all uniforms. For sponsors that donate more than $3,000, we will provide the following benefits:
- Access to our relevant students for potential recruitment opportunities into your organisation;
- Two complimentary tickets to the UQ NAIDOC Ball 2021 to be held in June;
- Company branding on Indigenous Nationals photos posted on Goorie Berrimpa’s social media.
Social media provides numerous opportunities for networking and advertising, consequently we understand the potential benefit to our team and your company. Your contribution as a sponsor will be recognised with a personalised media video posted to our social media sites following the games, which you can then use as part of your media strategy.
